July 2015 Favourites

These are all the things I have liked throughout this July!

Soap and Glory Clean on Me shower gel

I love this shower gel not just because it smells great but because it makes my skin feel really soft even if I don’t use moisturiser. This is because it has a body lotion inside it. The scent of this shower gel is Soap and Glory’s Original Pink fragrance.

Soap and Glory The Scrub of Your Life

This scrub really does make your skin smooth. I find that my skin feels smooth enough without using moisturiser afterwards but, if I do feel like using a moisturiser, I like to use the Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter. The scent of this scrub is also the Original Pink fragrance.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

This is my favourite micellar water, it doesn’t make my skin sore. Also it doesn’t hurt if I use it on spots or broken skin. If it gets into my eyes it doesn’t sting. It removes my makeup really well and it doesn’t take a lot of the product to work. I only bought then travel size to see if I like it and I will definitely be buying the big size next time.

SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation

If you want to know what I think about this foundation click this link that will take you to a review that I wrote.

 Maybelline Master Sculpt

This is a contouring and highlighting duo. The bronzer is a matt shade and the highlighter has really pretty shimmer in it. Both of these are really pigmented.

                                                      Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I’m sure everyone knows how good this brush is. I now people use this brush for lots of different products but I only use it for foundation and concealer.

Collection Work the Colour Eyebrow Kit

This kit has the perfect shade for my eyebrows. It has three shades, a mini clear brow gel and a small plastic applicator. I don’t use the applicator that comes with it, I just one of my own angled brushes. I did try out the applicator and it was perfectly fine but it was just too small. I only use the lightest shade in the palate so, if any one knows where I can buy the shade on its own or any other shades like that one please tell me.

Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo

This dry shampoo from Lush is a powder. I have never tried a powder dry shampoo before but I have found that powder is better than the aerosol sprays. This dry shampoo doesn’t take a lot of time to work into hair, it also doesn’t leave any white marks after you’ve rubbed it in. It doesn’t give much volume but I use a separate product for that. Like the micellar water I only bought the smaller size of No Drought but when I finish this I will buy the bigger version.

It's a Spotty Situation!

I know for a fact that at least one of you lovely people have endless battles against spots. I definitely do and I have discovered some great products to keep them pesky spots at bay. Maybe some of you are lucky enough not to be in this situation but, I know I'm not to complain too much as I now a lot of people suffer from more serious things like acne. If any of you do suffer from acne and you have some advice for others please leave suggestions in the comments. I'm sure someone will benefit from it!

Anyway, in this post I'm going to share my favourite products that are relatively cheap but effective at keeping spots at bay. My number one favourite brand for battling spot is and always has been Clean and Clear. I find that the products in this range suit my skin really well.

While my skin is quite oily it is also very sensitive and certain products dry out parts of my face such as my cheeks and eye area. My skin oily on my forehead, nose and occasionally my chin. The Clean and Clear products have been designed to be tough on spots and gentle on skin. I think that this is 100% true. Well, for me it is and I am yet to find someone who doesn't agree with me.

If one of you don't get along with these products, please comment letting me know why!

The products from this range that I find effective are:

  • Clean and Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Daily Scrub
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Foaming Face Wash
  • Clean and Clear Deep Action Cream Wash
  • Clean and Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Control Moisturiser
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel

Obviously I don't use all of these products every day, that would be way too harsh on anybody's skin let alone sensitive skin. However, I do use them all depending on how my skin is. At the moment I have a fair few spots. On days/weeks like this I use these products;
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Daily Scrub (every other day&night)
  • Clean and Clear Deep Action Cream Wash (everyday&night)
  • Clean and Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion (twice a week in the morning)
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Control Moisturiser (everyday&night)
  • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel (everyday every 4-5 hours)
If your skin agrees with Clean and Clear products I highly recommend this routine. You don't have to use them all if you have other products that work but, I think that any one of these products work better when combined in a routine with at least one of the facial washes.

My favourite product from this range is the Spot Treatment Gel. This product is designed to allow you to re-apply it to the spots every four hours if needed. It doesn't sting unless the spot is broken but, if you are in this situation just grit your teeth and soldier through it! It will be well worth it.

When I have got fairly clear skin with minimal spots these are the products I use:
    • Clean and Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Foaming Face Wash (everyday&night)
    • Clean and Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Daily Scrub (Every other day&night)
    • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot control Moisturiser (everyday&night)
    • Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel (Everyday&night if needed)
I hope this blog post has helped at least one of you and if you have any questions about either the products or my routine please don't hesitate to contact me using the contact page or just simply comment. Again I'm sorry that this was another long post but, I wanted to help at least one person so I tried to write quite a bit. I developed these routines through trail and error, I wanted to post this so that you can go straight into routine that works.

If you read my last blog post you will know that I recently bought a facial cleanser from Lush and in about a month when I will let you know how I got on with it. I'm going to wait a month because I want to be sure that it works and that I don't persuade you into spending money on something that may not work!

    Liverpool Haul

I don't know if anyone will be reading this but I'm going to post anyway. I took a trip to Liverpool yesterday, did some shopping and now I have a blog, I can finally do a haul!
To some people this is really not exciting but you know, simple things please my simple mind! (If you aren't interested in clothing hauls, skip ahead to the bottom of this post where I have got some skincare products).
So, here we go. My first haul!!

I visited quite a lot of stores in Liverpool but I went into some of the shops I usually love shopping in like; H&M and Newlook. However, there was literally nothing in them shops that I liked. This really did shock me as I always without a doubt will walk out these stores with armfuls of bags but, this wasn't the end of the world as there were a lot of shops I loved to make up for this.
Lets start with Topshop. I love Topshop and I will always leave the shop with at least a couple of items. This time I did find 2 items that I fell in love with but, one of them I left behind because it was a lot of money to spend on something that I would only wear every now and then. I did buy one item though.
This is a navy and white, horizontal striped crop top. What drew me to this crop top was the white flowers around the edge of the sleeves and bottom of the top. This top costs £24.

Then I found a Primark shop and I found some great bargains in there! I'll start with the clothes. The first thing I spotted was a knee length, lacy, ivory kimono. It has very loose and baggy 3/4 length sleeves. I don't know if you can see that picture but this kimono has very long fringing at the bottom of it. They start just above the knee and end mid way down the bottom of the legs. I think this kimono looks really nice when its paired with some denim shorts. This kimono only cost £8.

Then I found two vest tops. One of them is a pale pink, blush colour. It is slightly oversized with a black hummingbird pattern all over. I then saw the other vest top and this one is a pale grey colour with a grained effect. It also has one of them half necklaces attached around the neckline. The grey top is fairly loosely fitted. Both of these look great with a pair of light blue skinny jeans and also a pair of dark denim shorts.

Next in Primark I wondered into the shoe section. Two of these pairs of shoes are one of my favourite buys of the day! I picked up these super cute tan coloured brogue style shoes. They also have tan coloured laces. These were £10 and they are very comfortable.

The other pair of shoes that I have fallen in love with are these. They are white ballet pumps covered in a floral lace. These shoes will look great with any outfit whether that is a skirt, trousers, shorts or a dress. They cost £6.

I also picked up some super cheap flipflops for wearing around the pool on my holiday. These are definitely not the best quality but, as they will probably get wrecked by chlorine and sun scream I don't mind if they are poor quality. I haven't got a picture of me wearing these as all you wouldn't be able to see hardly any of the actual shoes. Just imagine this. One pair has black soles with a sparkly strap and the other pair has nude pink soles with sparkly straps.

Finally I went to Lush. I love Lush shops and like most people I have a favourite bath ballistic. Mine is Butterball. I find that the oils in this bath ballistic really benefit my skin and also make my skin feel super silky soft.

From Lush I also brought their Ultrabland facial cleanser. I have oily to combination skin. This cleanser is oil based which may throw some people with oily off buying it. However, as oil attracts oil this is the perfect cleanser for oily skin. It is called Ultrabland because it is simply so bland and adds no harsh products or chemicals to the skin.

I know this was a very lengthy blog post but I couldn't shorten it any more. I hope this was an okay first haul and I am sorry for the quality of the pictures. I have never taken photos like this before in the style of a blog post. Also my camera is quite old and not as good as I want it to be but, for now I hope you don't mind!

    My Favourite Foundations

To kick start BeautySpot I thought I would write about my favourite foundations.

To me foundation is my favourite makeup product. I know a lot of people would disagree with this and prefer something like mascara to 'standout' but, to me makeup is about making me feel confident. I personally can't feel confident unless I have 'perfected' skin. For me to achieve this I rely on two products in particular. These are:

    • L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation
    • SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation

    L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

    L'Oreal True Match Foundation
This foundation costs £9.99 (not sure about costs in other countries). True Match gives a very high coverage and L'Oreal has created 23 shades in this foundation, making it easy to match to a variety of skin tones. The texture of this foundation is quite creamy, this makes it very blendable, because the foundation is so blendable it creates a natural finish.

The only complaint I have about this product is not about the foundation but about the bottle. The packing is great and very durable but, I would love it if L'Oreal could make this product bigger.

At the moment in Boots stores (a UK drugstore) there is an offer on selected L'Oreal products. The offer is 3 for 2 on the selected
    products (cheapest one is free).

    SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation

    SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation
A cheaper alternative to True Match is the SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation. This foundation has amazing coverage and is quite a thick, creamy texture. I would recommend using a brush to blend in this product to make sure you get the best results possible (I find that Real Techniques Expert Face Brush gives excellent results). Stay Time Foundation costs £6.49 (as I said before I'm not sure about the costs for other currencies). SEVENTEEN has created 6 shades of this foundation which are definitely suitable for paler to tanned skin however, none of the shades i can find accommodate for darker skin tones.

Boots also have an offer on SEVENTEEN products. When you spend £5 or more on SEVENTEEN products you get a free SEVENTEEN Lip Crayon in the shade - The Coral of the Sto.

    Starting BeautySpot

So, for a while now I have been interested in starting my own blog. Ever since I discovered blogging and the great community alongside it, I have grown more intrigued to get involved.

When I got the idea to attempt starting a blog, I didn't need a second chance to decide on the content of the blog. I decided on beauty and fashion. I know this is the typical teenage girl blog content but, this side of blogging never gets boring. This will be an anonymous blog unless I ever decide to change that. However, I don't see that happening for a long while!
